What are the forsaken wow?
The Forsaken are a race and faction of undead who broke away from the Scourge and took control of much of the kingdom of Lordaeron, destroyed during the Third War by the death knight Arthas. They are currently allied with the Horde.
Why are undead called forsaken?
Forsaken is their faction’s name, undead is their actual race or type of being. Like orcs aren’t really called by their clan names, they’re just referred to as orcs. Undead are undead so that’s what they’re called.

Arthas became undead when he donned the helm of domination, which kills anyone who wears it immediately because of the resulting surge of the lich king’s power through them.

She was desperate. The Forsaken were still a new faction and relatively weak at the time and they were being attacked by Alliance forces trying to reclaim Lordaeron, the scarlet crusade and more and they needed allies to fight back/defend themselves. So she sent emissaries to many/most races on Azeroth.
